THE RECAP

After yesterdays second lap disaster which saw Tim Slade’s race at Hidden Valley end early, the Freightliner Racing team worked long into the night to make the repairs needed to get Tim back on track today.

Tim was straight into qualifying this morning, managing 17th in the Freightliner Racing Supercar. During the hot 200km race, Tim battled hard with traffic and was lacking the straight-line speed he needed at the Hidden Valley circuit. After battling with a loss of power, he crossed the finish line in 18th. It was a bitter pill to swallow for the Freightliner Racing team, as the Darwin track is usually a happy hunting ground for Tim.

Since its inception in 2006, no driver had ever won the Darwin Triple Crown. Until today. With Scott McLaughlin dominating the weekend, taking out the shootout and two races, he has become the first ever person to claim the ‘Triple Crown’. The team will return to home base in Albury and prepare for the next event in the always shining, Townsville, North Queensland.

THE WORD FROM BRAD

“We tried to run an aggressive strategy for the Freightliner Racing Commodore today. Every time we felt like we put him in a place where he could get some pace people around him stopped and we got caught behind others; then the engine was running quite hot and was down on horsepower, which might be something lingering from yesterday, so we couldn’t get past people out there today.”
