THE RECAP AND WORD FROM THE DRIVERS

The stage would be set for the four Beaurepaires Melbourne 400 races, with the final two qualifying sessions finalising the starting orders for the weekend ahead. Tim and Nick came out strong in the first session, locking in the second row of the grid, qualifying in 3rd and 4th. Nick qualified 13th for the fourth and final race, with Tim securing four top ten starting spots, locking in 9th.

Melbourne turned on another sun filled day, providing perfect racing conditions for today’s opening 130km race. the Alliance Truck Parts and Freightliner Racing duo of Tim Slade and Nick Percat would be starting out of 6th & 8th respectively.

The 25-lap race was run from the green flag to the chequered flag, with no safety car interruptions. Tim had a couple of battles on track with Shane Van Gisbergen and Chaz Mostert; but kept his race drama free ending in the same position he started – 6th, and notably, the first Holden across the line!

Nick’s race was met with two incidents with Scott Pye, firstly a pit lane infringement which cost the Mobil 1 Mega Racing team a $3000 fine and loss of 30 team points, then a bump and run at turn 15 put Nick down the order. Nick claimed back a few spots over the final laps to finish in 14th.

We’ve got another two races coming up tomorrow, with the first race of the day being a milestone – Supercars 1000th race! Stay tuned to Facebook for further updates.

TIM SLADE

“I was happy with our race and feel like we maximised what we had in the Alliance Truck Parts Supercar.”

“With our change in engineering group, I feel like we formed a good base in Adelaide, and I was hoping we’d genuinely learned something to keep moving forward. We applied those same principles and some more this weekend and its worked, it’s been pleasing.”
