THE RECAP

In another awesome turnout, 110,768 Supercar fans turned up at Pukekohe Park Raceway this weekend to see the Supercars live in action at the one and only international Supercar events here in New Zealand.

Qualifying was close at the short-yet technical Pukekohe circuit, with only 8 tenths of a second covering 1st to 25th position. The qualifying results were reversed today, with Tim Slade just outqualifying team-mate Nick Percat by a mere tenth of a second. This set up the Coregas NZ Supercars to start from 12th and 13th on the grid today.

Today’s 200km was flat out from start to finish, with every car crossing the line and not one appearance from the safety car. Tim moved ahead to finish in 11th and Nick Percat in 10th, claiming valuable team points heading into the final round.

The Supercars will arrive back to the team workshop at the end of this week, with Tim’s car returning to the Freightliner and Alliance Truck Part colours for the final event of the year – the Newcastle 500. Championship points for drivers and teams are still close, which sets the stage for one hell of a grand finale in less than three weeks’ time.

THE WORD FROM TIM

“The Coregas Supercar was good in qualifying, but it didn’t seem to give me what I needed over the longer race length to move forward that little bit more. I’m really happy with our qualifying overall this weekend, Nick and I were qualifying around the same spot earlier this year and as you can see this weekend, we were back in the fast groove.”

“I felt my car was a bit different to the other Coregas Supercar over the weekend, it seemed a little more nervous than usual. We’ll go through the data from this weekend and see what we can find. We want to get to Newcastle and be able to get on the podium like we did there last year and end our year on a high.”
