THE RECAP

The Freightliner / Alliance Truck Parts team were unmissable this weekend in their bright orange retro gear, gaining attention from many of the Supercars fans and teams alike. Unfortunately, the result wasn’t as big of a standout, with Ash Walsh having a difficult stint in the first part of the race. Tim and Ash missed out on the top ten result they wanted, crossing the line in 15th position.

Tim and Ash will now look forward to the biggest race of the year, the Bathurst 1000. The team are one of four to have made it through to the final of the ‘Pirtek Pit Stop Challenge’ which will see the top team take home the golden rattle gun on the Friday night. Always plenty to look forward to at the Mountain!

THE WORD FROM ASH

“It was a tough start to the race, I was having issues with the clutch on the formation lap as it wasn’t depressing the whole way. The clutch then failed on start, so the Freightliner Racing Commodore lit up on the grid, and as much as it may have looked impressive, it was far from it; as it lost us a few valuable spots!”

“As I was working my way forward, I got back inside the ten and then received a hit from another car. It put me down the order more than what I’d gained which was tough. It doesn’t make it fun when you can so easily lose all the hard work you’ve put in! I was hoping to hand the Freightliner Commodore over to Tim in a better position.”

“Tim did a good job to hold onto 15th, at the end it was him, Courtney, Winterbottom and Heimgartner fighting for the final finishing positions.”

“Bathurst has been strong for the team in the past, and I know the team will be giving it everything they’ve got once they get to the mountain. There is no doubt Sladey and I are keen for a good result there.”
