THE WORD FROM TIM / NICK

The Freightliner / Alliance Truck Parts pair of Tim Slade and Nick Percat faced the final day of heat and 200kms of the Hidden Valley Circuit.

Qualifying saw Tim miss the fan favourite Top Ten Shootout by 0.09 of a second, however Nick made it through and finished the Shootout in 5th position. Conditions were hot again for the drivers today, Nick battling with the front pack for the whole race, whereas Tim was battling with an off balance Freightliner Racing Commodore, making his job today tough! Nick finished in 6th and Tim in 21st.

Tim and Nick now sit 11th and 12th in the championship respectively. Next stop, Townsville 400!

TIM

“We struggled to get the balance right in the car today. In the latter part of the race we saw the one and only safety car of the weekend and the team opted for me to pit a third time for tyres in hopes some fresher rubber would see me gain some places. However the timing of the stop saw me go out a lap down and I whilst I was fighting with the leading group of cars I didn’t have enough to get past them.”

NICK

“The Freightliner / Alliance Truck Parts Commodore continued to improve all weekend thanks to the efforts from the team, and we ticked a few boxes today with qualifying and making it into the shootout. The car balance was really good; it looked after its tyres really well and gave me what I needed today. It was a great car to drive. I didn’t realise until after the race I’d broken a new race lap record!”

“Overall, it’s been two positive days for the Freightliner / Alliance Trucks Parts crew. We’ve taken away solid team points and leave the Darwin weekend in a better spot than we did last year.”
